Images not displaying from a Virtualbox mounted Share

Seems the solution applies to shares mounted via samba as well. The problem started when I wanted to have a directory mirror one from my production server and make it accessible to both a Virtualbox VM and a VMWare based VM.

From PHP 4.3.9 to PHP 5.1.6 with OpenX Any Gains?

Needed to upgrade to PHP 5.x for an app someone had written for us and that meant OpenX was along for the ride. It already supports 5.x but I was curious to see if there was any performance gains on the server.

VERR_PDM_DRVINS_UNKNOWN_CFG_VALUES

Reinstalled VirtualBox when 2.1.2 came out that fixed an annoying display bug that had prevented the client from displaying the guest properly.

Zune Error Code: C00D1318

I am not much of a music person, so I never did quite get into the iPod craze. Although when I saw a Zune 30gig on Woot for the right price I figured why not? It's been decent, as MS has spent time providing upgrades, but every so often you hit an error that leaves you scratching your head.

Passenger in Production Take 2

Well after a quick failure with Passenger on my larger production box I reported my problems and low and behold there had been some fixes committed that Friday that would have prevented my problems had I been following the development versions.

Keep Internet Memes On The Internet

There's been either a growing trend, or an existing trend I'm finally catching onto, where people use internet-speak in real life conversations. Might as well play the sounds of nails on a chalkboard as far as I'm concerned. A sure sign that I'm getting old.

Passenger with Ruby Enterprise in Production Take 1

Well Passenger had been running on this VPS nicely so why not try it out on a larger site? My server could use a nice decrease in memory usage, simpler Apache config files, and better concurrency.

Passenger (mod_rails) with Mephisto

With what appears at first glance as a solution to the "complicated" problems of hosting Rails apps Passenger could make the Rails world an even happier place to live. Less administration and more coding.

OpenX (OpenAds) 2.4.x Performance

Well, if a server is going to turn on you suddenly like a good dog gone bad I guess having something of a clue as to why is better than none. Today we had our largest spike in traffic in several months and everything held up fine, except the OpenX server wigged out shooting load up to 190! Let's see what you can do if this happens to you.

OpenAds 0.3.30-alpha to 2.4.2 Upgrade

There's a nice clear upgrade path from 0.3.31-alpha-pr3 but not from 0.3.31-alpha. Thankfully OpenAds is a well written app and rolling up to 0.3.31-alpha-pr3 wasn't much of a problem.

EDIT : Totally not true any more with the 2.4.4 release.
